Puppies and small dogs can easily escape through some fences like iron rod fencing or paneling that has a few inches between boards. Our newest hound Wilson, a mini Dachshund has mastered the art of squeezing through the bars in our fence making it very hard to keep him in the yard.
This makes it dangerous for him because he can run away, get hit by a car, get lost or stolen and it makes it inconvenient for us because we can't relax when he is outside because we are constantly watching him.
So what is the solution? Well you can tether your dog outside so he can't get near the perimeter of the fence but that's not fair to the dog who likes to run around and play and do his business. You can put up a mesh lining and hope it doesn't brake or he can't jump over the mesh, but that isn't a for sure thing either. We know because we have tried both scenarios.
So we got a puppy bumper.
