Meet Molly. Molly is a 12 year old long haired mini dachshund who we have become quite attached to. We also love to visit with her owner Orral who lives in the Elk Ridge Assisted Living Community Center off of 192nd Blondo St.
About two months ago I received a frantic message from a young woman whose grandma (Orral) was in danger of losing her precious dog Molly if she couldn't get her out to potty. The granddaughter was so worried that her grandma was going to have to give up her fur kid and then she gave us a call. They needed us 3 times a day Monday through Friday, at first I was hesitant to take on such a commitment but after meeting them both I knew we were going to be 100% committed to making sure that Molly could stay put right where she belongs.
We take Molly out in the morning for her walk, we feed her and make sure she has everything she needs for the morning. We come back again early afternoon and then again after dinner, each time taking her out to potty and a walk, feeding her and changing her potty pads if needed (for the times when she has to go and we aren't there). It is certainly a team effort and Molly is quite the star at the retirement center, everyone know who she is.
We absolutely feel blessed to have been chosen to care for Molly and we LOVE talking with Orral who loves to share stories about her kids and grandkids.
Just because we grow old and have to give up our homes and some of our freedoms, does not mean we have to give up our precious Housebound Hounds :)
