What I'm obsessed with this week........
A former HBH employee's dog jumped her fence a couple of weeks ago and is still missing :( Her dog has a microchip so if someone is kind enough to find her and turn her into the NHS she will be reunited with her mom. However, the sad fact is millions of pets get lost each year. They escape from fences, run through invisible fences or get loose while on a walk. The American Humane Association estimates over 10 million dogs and cats are lost or stolen in the U.S. every year. One in three pets will become lost at some point during their life.
Having proper ID tags on your pets at all times is very important and so is having your pet microchipped. What if though there is one more thing we can do to help keep our pets safe and sound? A GPS tracker that attaches to your pet's collar is a great option. If your pet does go missing you can track your pet's whereabouts via your smart phone or computer. Some even lead you right to your pet! Of course not all trackers are created equal so see the link below to see which one fits your needs the best.
If a dog were to get stolen (please don't leave your dogs unattended in your backyard during the day or at night) then the thief will most likely take off the GPS tracking system but they might not notice it right away so there still may be time.
I plan to purchase 2 trackers for two of our dogs that I know for a fact would run off if given the chance. When I purchase mine I will let you know if I like it and how it works!
