Frequently Asked Questions

1.  I have never used a pet sitter before, how does this all work?

  • Communication is key, so before we set up a time to meet we will go over exactly what you are looking for to make sure we are a right fit for your pet.
  • Once we get an okay from you to proceed it's a matter of setting up an initial consultation, forms are filled out and you can start scheduling walks or sits online (or you can always call or email us too)

2. Are you insured & bonded?

  • Absolutely!  We are insured and bonded through Kennel Pro Insurance for pet sitting professionals. Our employees and independent contractors are also covered under our policy.

3. Why is there a holiday charge?

  • After 11 plus years in the business this is our first year charging a fee for working hard over the holidays.  In the past we have had up to 15 visits a day taking time away from family (especially our kids). We only charge you for the "official" holiday and not days leading up to it or the few days after.

4. How much notice do you need if I want to schedule a visit?

  • We prefer 48 hours for dog walking/mid day visits but understand emergencies do come up.  If you can't find a time online that you need you can always text us or give us a call. We will do our best to accomodate your schedule. Host A Hound must have 2 weeks notice, pet sitting we prefer one weeks notice.

5. My pet is on medications, are you willing to administer meds while we are away?

  • Of course! This is included in any of our services at no extra charge.
  •
    6. Why is there so much paperwork involved?

  • We strive to be as thorough as possible when it comes to our client's pets and homes.  We would rather be over prepared than under prepared.

7. Are you a kennel?

  • NO!  We are not a kennel, we do not run a kennel but we do pet sit for dogs and other housebound pets in your home or a Host A Hound home.  These homes have 0-1 dog(s), your dog is kept inside the majority of the time, and if they are outside our families are out there with them :)

7. How will I know my pets are being cared for while I am away?
  • We send text messages, video messages and are happy to call you after each visit or once a day to let you know how your pet(s) are doing while you are away.
